What is an in-app user engagement worksheet?
The in-app user engagement worksheet is a five-step worksheet for planning, launching, and pitching an in-app guidance program.
Instead of general advice on "being more proactive in the product," it gives you the actual tools: a journey-mapping table by persona and stage, a four-source method for finding your highest-value features, and the specific questions to put to engineering when you're deciding whether to build or buy.
What's inside the template?
The worksheet has five sections, each with its own table, fill-in prompt, and rollout checklist:
- Map your onboarding journey by persona
- Identify your golden features
- Design your multichannel experience
- Track leading and lagging metrics
- Build your build-vs-buy business case
How to use the template
Start with section one: pick one product, one persona, one stage. Naming that up front keeps the rest of the worksheet from sprawling.
Work through sections two and three with whoever owns your existing channels: sales, renewals, and CSM input for golden features, marketing for the channel map. Agree the trigger points before you build anything.
Fill in section four's baseline before you launch, not after. That lagging metric is what proves the business case once your proof of concept runs.
